3632 Liquid transport pump Packing OPTIONS
Triple Lip Seal

Offering the same high degree of sealing reliability as a mechanical seal, triple lip seals are better suited for viscous products that tend to set up while the pump is idle.
Mechanical seal faces tend to stick together with high viscosity liquids, such as resins, glues and paints. The lips create an effective barrier to product leakage, and will move freely upon resumption of pumping a thickening substance.
In cases where extreme circumstances can cause catastrophic failure of mechanical seals, the resilient nature of the triple lip seal makes it relatively immune to sudden failure.

Optional: Triple Lip Seal with Packing Backup
With the addition of the packing backup, users can tighten the packing down if the TLS fails to control a leak until maintenance can be performd.
DSA Packing

DSA (Dry run, Self-Adjusting) is shaft packing that is designed to be virtually leak free.
- Rings are made of graphite
- Requires minimal compression and rare adjustments
In tests at Roper on a unit pumping #2 fuel oil at 450 RPM and 45 PSI, the shaft packing only leaked one drop in 500 hours of operation.
DSA packing is good for clean liquids that do not crystallize or thicken/harden when exposed to air or temperature extremes. These packing sets come with installation instructions that must be followed for the packing to work properly.
The rings are made of graphite. Part of the rings are die formed wedge shaped graphite filament while others are typical braided rings. The die formed rings are fragile and will not take rough handling.
DSA packing requires minimal compression and rare adjustment. Compressing this packing like conventional packing will result in excessive leakage that cannot be stopped without replacing the entire packing set. It will provide very good service when properly installed and maintained.
